Tha Awa - Caught in the crossfire (30 images)

The indigenous Awá find themselves caught in the crossfire between guerrillas of the FARC, the Colombian military and armed drug-trafficking groups. Thousands have fled their reserves and now live in the towns of the "mestizos" (non-indigenous) obliged to labour daily for low wages to pay food and rents and seeing their culture eroded by living as displaced outside of their traditional territories.
